Uganda is a unique safari destination in Africa. Uganda enjoys one of the best climates in the world. It is sunny and green all year around with two distinct rainy seasons stretching from March to May and September to November. However, rain can occur anytime. The temperature average 27C with the highest being 31C in the Karamoja and Kasese regions and lowest being 15C in Kabale. This makes Uganda a safari destination that can be visited all year round. Uganda is one of the most beautiful safari destinations in Africa with fantastic natural scenery, half of the world´s remaining mountain gorilla population and some of the friendliest people in Africa. It is also a unique and captivating tourist destination for tourists interested in taking gorilla safaris, cultural tours, wildlife safaris / game viewing tours, hiking / mountaineering safaris etc.


Uganda lies astride the equator and bordered by Kenya in the east, Tanzania and Rwanda in the south, Democratic Republic of Congo in the west and Sudan in the North. $ Money!

The local legal currency is the Uganda shilling which trades at around UG Shs 1700 to 2000 or more this depends on the inflation in the circumstance to the foreign currency, but there is always a price fluctuation and Notes are printed in denomination of UG Shs 50,000/=, 20,000/= 10,000/= 5.000/= 1,000/= to the loose change (Coins) 500, 200, 100 and 50. Therefore when you’re traveling to Uganda, you are advised to bring enough money to avoid inconvenience in transferring across. You may carry your money in traveler’s cheques (TCs) (choose American express brand) which may be refunded if they are lost or stolen. Note: that Traveler’s Cheques are frequently limited to local Bank branches out side Kampala. And they should be US$100 or 50 denominations, 20. 10 and 5 does not attract much to our banks; the most widely recognized currencies are US$ dollar, Euro, £ Pound starling all these currencies can be changed to Uganda shillings. Visitors who wish to carry their funds in hard currency (cash) ideally US. Dollars and pound sterling large denomination bills $50/100 attracts a better exchange rate, this is reverse to TCs and small bill attracts lousy exchange rate.

Note: US dollar bills issued before 2000year is not widely accepted here! Credit cards are accepted to some supermarket, restaurant and hotels in the capital city, Visa card is widely accepted than Master Card at automatic teller machines (ATMs) and will provide you a minimum of $ 200- 700 per day at ATMs in Barclays bank, Stanbic bank or standard chartered bank are likely to suit and except to UG Shs 30,000 in local charges and it is cheaper to obtain local currency. There are few circumstances in which credit cards will be much of use or direct payment or to obtain cash.

 

Note:It is worthy for you to understand that in an emergency a relative or a friend can send you money quickly and safely through Western Union or Money Gram, you collect Ugandan shillings converted from a sum paid to an agent in your home country as little as ten minutes earlier.
